In Taisho-era Japan, Tanjiro Kamado works as a charcoal merchant to support his mother and five younger siblings in the mountains. Upon returning from town the next morning, he discovers his family murdered by a demon in their home. His sister Nezuko survives the slaughter but transforms into a bloodthirsty demon who still shows human protective feelings toward him. Tanjiro sets out on a journey with Nezuko to find a cure and train with swordsman Sakonji Urokodaki. Natsuki Hanae voiced Tanjiro Kamado, while Akari Kitō voiced Nezuko Kamado.

Ufotable produced 26 episodes for the initial run that aired from April to September 2019. A sequel film, Mugen Train, opened in Japanese cinemas in October 2020 and grossed over $500 million worldwide, setting the all-time box office record in Japan. The television continuation included the seven-episode adaptation of Mugen Train and the 11-episode Entertainment District arc between October 2021 and February 2022. The 11-episode Swordsmith Village arc followed in April 2023, and the eight-episode Hashira Training arc finished in June 2024.
