Haikyu!!

Haikyu!! is an anime television series produced by Production I.G that began broadcasting in April 2014 on MBS and TBS. The story originates from the sports manga written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate.

Susumu Mitsunaka directed the first three seasons, handing directing duties to Masako Satō for the fourth run. Takahiro Kishida served as character designer, and Yuki Hayashi composed the score alongside Asami Tachibana. Voice actor Ayumu Murase portrayed Shoyo Hinata, opposite Kaito Ishikawa as setter Tobio Kageyama. The television run spans 85 episodes: 25 episodes in 2014, 25 episodes across 2015 and 2016, 10 episodes in late 2016, and 25 episodes during 2020. A theatrical sequel film, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, premiered in Japanese cinemas in February 2024.

Junior high student Shoyo Hinata resolves to master volleyball after watching a small-stature Karasuno High School spiker nicknamed the Little Giant compete on television. Hinata builds a makeshift middle school club, but his inexperienced squad suffers a crushing loss against tournament favorite Kitagawa Daiichi, led by tyrannical setter Tobio Kageyama. Vowing to defeat Kageyama in high school, Hinata enrolls at Karasuno High School only to discover that Kageyama has joined the same roster. The former adversaries must resolve their clashing temperaments to combine Hinata's extraordinary jumping agility with Kageyama's pinpoint passing accuracy.

Crunchyroll secured international streaming rights outside Asia, providing subtitled simulcasts across North America, South America, and Europe. Sentai Filmworks licensed the early seasons for English-language home release in North America, while Medialink handled licensing across Southeast Asia. The series opening song Phoenix won Best Opening Sequence at the 5th Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2021. The 2024 sequel film Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle earned a nomination for Film of the Year at the 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2025. Japanese theaters recorded over ¥11.6 billion in ticket sales for that sequel.
